Under Floor Heating

Overview
Underfloor heating warms a building by allowing the floor to act like a massive radiator.

There are two types of underfloor heating systems:

  • warm water (wet) systems: heated water is passed through pipes buried in screed, or underneath the floor surface
  • electric (dry) systems: similar to a wet system but an electric heating element is used in place of pipes carrying heated water

Why chose under floor heating over radiators?

Radiators warm a room by heating the air near them, the hot air rises to the top of the room, before cooling and falling to a height where it can be felt. The result is heat loss through windows, walls, ceilings and roofs.

Underfloor heating is more economical and effective than conventional heating systems due to how it heats air in a room - from the floor up. It requires a lower temperature because the larger heating area does not need to produce as much heat as a radiator.

Underfloor heating is best for buildings under construction, renovations and extensions.

Underfloor heating systems are completely hidden so you don't have to arrange your furniture around them.
